Thiruvananthapuram (Keralam) [India], September 29 (ANI): The Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church has extended its profound appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government for their decisive diplomatic intervention in securing the release of three church members from a detention facility in Saudi Arabia.
In an official communication, Theodosius Mar Thoma Metropolitan, head of the Kerala-headquartered church, conveyed gratitude to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) for what he lauded as “sincere and sustained efforts” that culminated in the liberation of Dannaymon, Liju Mathew, and Mathew Cheriachen.
According to a release, in a letter dated September 9, 2026, addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Theodosius Mar Thoma Metropolitan, head of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church, thanked the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister’s Office for what he described as their “sincere and sustained efforts” towards securing the release of Dannaymon, Liju Mathew and Mathew Cheriachen.
The Metropolitan said the church deeply appreciated the “prompt intervention and compassionate attention” extended by the Prime Minister’s Office in the matter. He also acknowledged the efforts and coordination of the Embassy of India in Saudi Arabia, stating that the release had brought “immense relief and joy” to the detainees, their families and the wider community.
The letter conveyed appreciation to all those involved in facilitating the release and acknowledged the role of Indian diplomatic efforts in the matter. According to the letter, the release of the three detainees has brought significant relief to their families and the church.
The Metropolitan further extended his gratitude to the Prime Minister for his intervention and support, while expressing prayers for his continued service to the country and its people, the release added.
“Please accept, Honorable PM Sir, our profound appreciation for your valued intervention and support,” the letter stated.
In the concluding part of the letter, Theodosius Mar Thoma Metropolitan expressed his wishes for the Prime Minister, praying that God Almighty would continue to grant him “wisdom, strength, and grace” in his service to the nation and its people.
The letter, bearing the official seal and signature of Theodosius Mar Thoma Metropolitan, was addressed to the Prime Minister’s Office in New Delhi.
The communication reflects the appreciation expressed by the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church for the assistance extended in securing the release of its members from the retention centre in Saudi Arabia, the release stated. (ANI)
