Quetta [Balochistan], August 24 (ANI): The Baloch National Movement (BNM) has remembered its former Information and Culture Secretary Haji Razzaq Baloch, highlighting his political commitment, intellectual contributions and role in the Baloch national liberation movement.
In a report, the BNM described Razzaq Baloch as a prominent leader and an influential intellectual with a distinctive personality and a strong philosophical outlook. The organisation said his ideas and contributions played an important role in shaping the intellectual direction of its political struggle.
The BNM said Razzaq Baloch’s political and intellectual legacy continues to hold significance for the movement. It described him as a valuable thinker whose contributions extended beyond organisational responsibilities and helped strengthen the ideological discourse surrounding the Baloch national cause.
Razzaq Baloch, son of Haji Rasool Bakhsh, was a Karachi resident and worked as a journalist before joining the Baloch national liberation movement through the BNM. The organisation said he was elected Zonal Organiser of its Karachi Zone in 2006. In 2008, he became a member of the BNM Central Committee.
According to the report, At the BNM’s Eighth National Council Session in 2010, Razzaq Baloch was elected Information and Culture Secretary. The BNM said he subsequently played a role in the organisation’s political communication, cultural activities and intellectual work.
The organisation also recalled the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and death. The BNM said Razzaq Baloch was forcibly disappeared from Karachi on March 24, 2013, allegedly by the Pakistan Army. Nearly five months later, on August 21, 2013, his body was reportedly recovered in Karachi with multiple bullet wounds.
The BNM has linked his killing to what it describes as a broader campaign of repression targeting Baloch political leaders, activists, intellectuals and national thinkers. The organisation alleged that several of its leaders and activists have similarly been targeted.
While remembering Haji Razzaq Baloch, the BNM has emphasised his enduring political and intellectual legacy, describing him as a journalist, organiser and thinker whose contributions remain an important part of the movement’s history. (ANI)
