Muzaffarabad [PoJK], August 10 (ANI): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) PoJK unit has announced a complete boycott of the ongoing electoral process in the region, including the elections in Bagh and Haveli districts, describing the exercise as an “unconstitutional” and “unfair” process.
In two posts on X, PTI PoJK said the party had taken a “clear and final decision” to remain completely detached from the current electoral process across Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK).
As cited by the PTI PoJK post on X, the party has directed all its office-bearers, ideological workers and movement leaders in Bagh and Haveli to remain “entirely aloof” from the elections. The party said no moral, political or on-ground support should be extended to any political party, faction or electoral candidate.
PTI PoJK further warned that any office-bearer or worker found violating the party’s directive by participating in the election process or assisting any candidate would face immediate disciplinary action, including expulsion from the party.
The announcement was issued by Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi, former Prime Minister and President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf PoJK. He said the party’s struggle was based on principles and that PTI remained united in its decision to boycott the elections.
In its second post on X, PTI appealed to the people of PoJK to remain united against what it termed the “current fascist system and injustice”.
The party claimed that people in the Mirpur and Muzaffarabad divisions had already rejected what it described as a “rigged and fraudulent election” and urged residents of Bagh and Haveli to follow the same course.
PTI PoJK also linked its election boycott call to the ongoing Rawalakot sit-in and the deaths of unarmed Kashmiris during clashes involving Rangers and security forces.
The party said the issues should first be resolved through immediate negotiations with protesters at the Rawalakot sit-in. It further demanded legal action against those responsible for the deaths and justice for the families of those killed.
“Until” legal action is taken against those responsible and the families of the deceased receive justice, PTI urged people not to cast their votes and to boycott the election process completely. (ANI)
