
Missouri [US], July 13 (ANI): England head coach Thomas Tuchel praised his team’s fighting spirit after their latest victory, saying the players have shown remarkable resilience by refusing to give up despite facing setbacks, according to Reuters.
“They just refuse to give in. They just refuse to accept a defeat. They overcome setbacks. They put a shift in. There is not one 1% complaint about that,” Tuchel said, according to the report.
The England football boss said the ability to overcome difficult situations and find ways to win reflects the team’s high standards.
“To overcome adversity and find ways to win is on the absolutely highest level,” he said.
Tuchel added that reaching the last four was the most important achievement but admitted that the team still needs to improve its style of play.
“We found a way, we’re in the last four, which is the most important thing. But I still think we can and have to play better football,” he said, as quoted by Reuters.
Praising an Jude Bellingham’s performance during the game, Tuchel described the display as world-class, highlighting the player’s impact in crucial moments.
“World-class performance from a world-class player in big, big moments. Absolute top class,” Tuchel said.
England eventually secured a 2-1 victory to book a semi-final clash against defending champions Argentina, bringing an end to Norway’s best-ever FIFA World Cup campaign.
The quarter-final marked a historic milestone for Norway, which reached the last eight for the first time in tournament history after returning to the World Cup for the first time since 1998.
