Tadepalli (Andhra Pradesh) [India], July 29 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh’s former Education Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Political Affairs Committee (PAC) member Adimulapu Suresh on Wednesday demanded the resignation of state Education Minister Nara Lokesh over alleged irregularities in the Mega DSC recruitment, saying he should follow the same accountability standards as Dharmendra Pradhan, who resigned as Union Education Minister over the NEET paper leak issue.
Speaking to ANI on the issue, Suresh said, “At the Centre, when a paper leak occurred in an entrance examination, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan tendered his resignation to uphold value-based politics and ethical standards. Why isn’t Nara Lokesh following in those same footsteps? We demand answers…”
Suresh alleged that the District Selection Committee (DSC) recruitment question paper was leaked and claimed that thousands of candidates had allegedly secured appointments through the “back door”. He further alleged that individuals associated with the Yuva Galam campaign were being allotted jobs under the DSC recruitment process.
“Yesterday, we witnessed the anger, frustration, and disappointment of Gen Z, the youth of Andhra Pradesh, regarding the failure of the TDP-led NDA coalition government to conduct the DSC examinations fairly and transparently,” he said.
“Right from the beginning, the YSRCP has been demanding an independent inquiry, preferably by the CBI, to investigate the alleged irregularities, paper leaks, and illegal appointments of teachers under the sports quota. However, the government has turned a deaf ear to the entire issue,” he added.
The former Education Minister further alleged that Nara Lokesh had not responded to the allegations raised by the YSRCP.
“We have presented concrete evidence and case-by-case examples showing how rules were flouted. The Education Minister, Nara Lokesh, has not responded,” Suresh said.
“There was clearly a leak of the DSC question paper, and thousands of candidates have allegedly entered through the back door. Those who worked for the Yuva Galam campaign are reportedly being allotted jobs under the DSC recruitment,” he alleged.
Suresh said that Andhra Pradesh was also witnessing a “Gen Z movement”, with students and youth demanding the resignation of the Education Minister over the alleged Mega DSC scam.
“We demand that the same standard of accountability be followed here. If Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned over the NEET paper leak issue, then Nara Lokesh should also resign over the Mega DSC scam,” he said.
He claimed that a large number of aspirants had been affected by the alleged scam and said that he was ready to debate the issue with Nara Lokesh.
“As a former Education Minister, I am ready to debate Nara Lokesh on this issue, if our leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy permits,” Suresh said.
Earlier on Tuesday, Leaders of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) staged a protest rally from VRC Centre to the Gandhi Statue in Nellore, demanding the immediate resignation of Nara Lokesh over an alleged scam in the DSC (District Selection Committee) recruitment.
The protest saw the participation of senior leaders, including former Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy, MLC Parvathareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy, and various constituency in-charges.
The protest comes after the “Mega DSC” recruitment controversy has triggered a political tussle across the state over the DSC-2025 teacher recruitment drive for more than 15,900 posts. The opposition YSRCP has alleged a major scam involving paper leaks, irregularities in the sports quota and manipulation of data. (ANI)
