
Agartala (Tripura) [India], July 2 (ANI): The Tripura Government is preparing a comprehensive blueprint to ensure the faster and more effective delivery of Central and State welfare schemes to Scheduled Caste (SC) communities across the state, SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das announced on Wednesday after chairing a state-level review meeting and later addressing a press conference at the Civil Secretariat in Agartala.
The Minister said the government is committed to improving the socio-economic condition of the state’s 34 Scheduled Caste communities by streamlining welfare programmes, strengthening coordination among departments, and ensuring timely benefits for eligible beneficiaries. He stressed that officials of the SC Welfare, Education, Rural Development and other departments must work proactively for the overall development of SC families and students.
Reviewing the implementation of key schemes, Das said the government is focusing on programmes such as PM-AJAY, Prime Minister Adarsh Gram Yojana, Mukhyamantri Tapashili Jati Bikash Yojana, scholarship schemes, hostel development and skill-based self-employment initiatives. He also proposed district-level workshops to improve awareness and implementation of the Mukhyamantri Tapashili Jati Bikash Yojana.
Highlighting the department’s performance during the 2025-26 financial year, officials informed that over 45,000 SC students benefited from pre-matric and post-matric scholarships, while financial assistance was extended to students pursuing professional courses. The government also honoured 7,172 students with the Dr BR Ambedkar Memorial Merit Award.
The Minister said 1,928 beneficiaries received assistance under the Mukhyamantri Tapashili Jati Bikash Yojana for income-generating activities such as poultry farming, duck rearing and small businesses.
Development projects worth ₹72.78 crore are being implemented at Maharajganj Fish Market and selected water bodies, while 33 villages are being developed under PM-AJAY. He added that two SC girls’ hostels have been completed, 119 teachers have been appointed in 32 hostels, and financial support has also been provided under the Inter-Caste Marriage Incentive Scheme.
Senior officials, including SC Welfare Secretary Deepa D Nair, Director-in-Charge Bhaswar Bhattacharya, district and sub-divisional welfare officers, and representatives of key departments attended the review meeting. (ANI)
