
Agartala (Tripura) [India], July 11 (ANI): The vehicular movement on the Assam-Agartala National Highway came to a complete halt after a massive tree collapsed onto the middle of the road near the Bankumari Temple in the Barmura area on Saturday.
The fallen tree completely blocked both sides of the highway, leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded and causing severe traffic congestion.
Commuters, including passengeBarmurars and transport operators, faced considerable inconvenience as the road remained impassable.
Upon receiving the information, local authorities and emergency personnel rushed to the spot and initiated efforts to remove the tree and restore normal traffic.
Speaking to ANI, the police official said, “Upon receiving information about the incident, we arrived at the scene immediately to cut the fallen tree and clear the road for traffic. The blocakge lasted for about half an hour. Although there was a slight delay in our arrival as we were patrolling another location at the time, we managed to clear the path and allow vehicles to pass. This incident occurred in the Barmura-Bankumari area.”
The incident is believed to have been triggered by continuous rainfall and strong winds in the region. (ANI)
