Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 2 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Sunday criticised Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and the INDI bloc, alleging that the Opposition “uses every issue to target the government” and opposes every good initiative.
Speaking to ANI, Maurya said that parties in the INDI bloc, including the Samajwadi Party, had opposed the Women’s Reservation Bill and alleged that they had used various issues to criticise the government.
“Rahul Gandhi and parties in the INDIA alliance, including the Samajwadi Party, have opposed women’s reservation. They use every issue to target the government. During the NEET paper leak protests, they used the students’ agitation. Their approach is to oppose every good initiative, but that will not make any difference,” Maurya said.
He further said the process of implementing women’s reservation would be completed, while stressing that delimitation is also necessary.
“The process of implementing women’s reservation will be completed. Delimitation is also necessary, and after discussions with all political parties, I am confident the Government will take it forward,” the Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister said.
On the upcoming Legislative Assembly session, Maurya said the proceedings would include legislative work as well as the presentation of a supplementary budget aimed at improving the lives of people in the state.
“The session of the Legislative Assembly is eagerly awaited by both the honourable members and the general public of the state, as it is very important. This session will not only involve legislative work but also the presentation of a supplementary budget aimed at improving the lives of the people,” he said.
Maurya added that the government expects the opposition to raise issues in the House for discussion and said the government is prepared to respond to them.
“We are expecting that the opposition will bring forth their issues in the House for discussion, to which the government is prepared to respond. The goal is to have a meaningful discussion that does not waste the House’s time,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister’s remarks came as the Uttar Pradesh Assembly’s monsoon session is scheduled to begin on August 3.
Earlier on Sunday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath chaired an all-party meeting at the Vidhan Bhavan and urged members of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council from both the ruling and opposition parties to raise every issue concerning public interest in the House.
He also asked them to cooperate with the government in accelerating development through healthy discussions. He further appealed to the opposition parties to ensure the smooth conduct of House proceedings.
The meeting was convened regarding the conduct of the Assembly’s monsoon session, which begins on August 3. Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana also sought the cooperation of all members for the smooth conduct of the House proceedings.
