Talcher (Odisha) [India], August 22 (ANI): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said that Sanatan Dharma is the soul of the nation as he addressed the birth centenary celebration of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati at Gurujang in Talcher, Angul district.

“Sanatan Dharma is not merely a system of worship; it is the soul of our nation,” Majhi said.

During the event, Majhi paid tribute to Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati and described him as a great spiritual guide, social reformer, and a symbol of service, sacrifice and Sanatan Dharma.

On the occasion, Majhi said, “Swami Lakshmanananda Saraswati’s Antyodaya thought current, which accorded the dignity of divine service to serving people at the farthest end of society, remains an inspiration for society even today. Drawing inspiration from Swamiji’s sacrifice, service, and dedication to society, the youth should take a leading role in building a conscious, civilized, and responsible society–this is the need of the hour today.”

Odisha Chief Minister also announced that the Phulbani Government Medical College would be renamed as Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati Medical College in honour of the seer’s contribution to tribal welfare.

Majhi further said that Rs 13 crore has been sanctioned from the Chief Minister’s Special Assistance Fund for the development and heritage conservation of Jalespata Ashram, Ashram School and Kanyashram.

CM Majhi reviewed the ongoing development works and infrastructure upgradation of SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.
