New Delhi [India], July 29 (ANI): Communist Party of India (Marxist) MP John Brittas on Wednesday rallied behind Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s sharp comments against Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi, alleging that protecting individuals involved in unlawful activities has become a recurring pattern for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

“This is not something which is new. Many of the ministers in this government have been protecting those people who were participants in riots and unlawful activities in the name of supporting their BJP allies. So there is nothing new in that argument. I can dole out numerous cases,” he said.

“For example, somebody was instrumental in the rape. When they were released from jail, these people garlanded them. Their job is that anybody who is a lawbreaker, if they are part of the BJP, when they come out of jail, they will be garlanded,” the CPI(M) MP added.

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Sagarika Ghose highlighted unified Opposition demonstrations against excessive police force on students and donation-related irregularities at the Ayodhya Ram Temple.

“We are protesting here against the theft of donations, and the way peaceful students have been attacked; excessive force has been used. We are protesting against this as well. INDIA alliance is united and protesting on all these issues,” she said.

Earlier, Congress Lok Sabha MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made remarks against newly appointed Union Education Minister Prahlad Joshi in connection with the Bilkis Bano convicts while targeting the government over issues related to examination irregularities and accountability.

Her remarks against the newly appointed minister triggered a heated exchange in the Lok Sabha, as Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi and Kiren Rijiju accused her of making personal allegations and spreading misinformation against the education minister. (ANI)
