
Amritsar (Punjab) [India], September 17 (ANI): Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh and BJP MP Sambit Patra on Thursday extended birthday wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting his 25 years in public office and his resolve of ‘Viksit Bharat’.
Speaking in Amritsar on Modi’s 76th birthday, Chugh said the occasion was a matter of good fortune and an opportunity to seek blessings for the Prime Minister’s long life and for his policies and the resolve of ‘Viksit Bharat’ to move forward.
Chugh said Modi had worked extensively against poverty in the country and cited various figures related to welfare and development.
“Today Niti Aayog is saying that 25 crore citizens have risen above poverty,” Chugh said, adding that drinking water had reached around 19 crore households through tap connections.
He further said around 60 crore citizens had received medical insurance and around 100 crore people were benefiting from one or another scheme of the Prime Minister.
“Today Niti Aayog is saying that 25 crore citizens have risen above poverty, today drinking water has reached about 19 crore houses through tap, about 60 crore citizens of the country have got medical insurance, about 100 crore citizens of India are getting benefits under some scheme or the other of Prime Minister Modi,” he said.
Chugh said Modi had made public service the goal of his life and worked with the mantra that “public service is country service”.
He said that under Modi’s leadership, India had become a major power in the world and that the country’s progress was being witnessed globally.
Chugh said India was the fastest-growing economy in the world with a growth rate of 7.8 per cent and had become the fourth-largest economy in the world. He attributed the progress to Modi’s policies, hard work and the work undertaken by his government.
“Today India is the fastest-growing economy in the world with a growth rate of 7.8 per cent; today it has become the fourth-largest economy in the world. This progress is due to his policies, the pinnacle of his hard work, the work done by him.”
He said Modi had taken a resolve to build a developed India and sought blessings for the Prime Minister’s long life, his policies to move forward and the fulfilment of the ‘Viksit Bharat’ resolve.
Meanwhile, BJP MP Sambit Patra said he and other residents of Puri had prayed at the temple of Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath on the occasion of Modi’s birthday.
Patra said it was a matter of good fortune that they had gathered before the temple and worshipped at the holy feet of Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath. He said Modi had taken over the leadership of the country and completed 25 years in public office.
Patra said prayers were offered for the Prime Minister’s long life and good health so that he could continue working in the service of the country.
He said the gathering was part of India’s culture and tradition, under which people light lamps at their homes and pray to God when someone has a birthday.
Patra said Modi had become an integral part of people’s families and referred to various government schemes, saying people had benefited from them.
“Someone got a house, someone is getting food grains through the Garib Kalyan Yojana, someone can see that Kisan Samman Nidhi is getting health benefits of people through Ayushman Yojana,” he said.
Patra said that for these reasons, they had prayed for the Prime Minister before Mahaprabhu Jagannath and wished Modi well. (ANI)
