Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], July 3 (ANI): Former Congress State General Secretary Rakesh Singh Yadav on Friday resigned from the party and launched a sharp attack on state party president Jitu Patwari, alleging that he did not deserve the post and had weakened the party.
Announcing his resignation at a press conference in the city here, Yadav labelled serious allegations against state Congress president Patwari. He also alleged that organisational posts in the state Congress were being allotted in exchange for money.
“Three days back a letter was issued in which it has been stated that no Congress office-bearers or senior leader will speak to the media. The reason behind this is a 3-day ‘maun satyagraha’. State General Secretary of the party Sanjay Kamle at the behest of Jitu Patwari, issued a letter about ‘maun satyagraha’. No one will speak regarding allegations of a Rs 500 crore trust scam levelled by the party against Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. There was no communication with me. So, I participated in 2-3 TV debates. I received a phone call from a leader that there are media reports that I have been served a notice. I denied it. I was told that the notice has been issued because I debated on the TV,” Yadav told ANI.
The senior leader added that he was informed that Patwari had restricted any such debates and when he asked a reason for the same, there was no response.
“It means that the allegations levelled by him (Patwari) against the CM about Rs 500 crore trust scam was false and he had no evidence or documents to support them,” Yadav claimed.
The former Congress leader further accused Patwari of lacking the ability to lead the state unit and alleged that he did not deserve the post of state Congress Committee president.
Targeting the party’s central leadership, Yadav claimed he had written several letters to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding the functioning of the Madhya Pradesh unit but never received a response.
“Rahul Gandhi knows about it but doesn’t interfere perhaps because he has consented. I had written to Rahul Gandhi about issues related to state functioning several times but he never responded. I think he is a ‘Dhritrashtra’ with a blindfold over his eyes and has created ‘Duryodhans’ like Jitu Patwari,” he alleged.
Speaking about resignation, he said, “I have announced my resignation publicly before the media persons. I don’t think there is a need to send in writing separately. I have worked with Congress leaders Kamal Nath and Digvijaya Singh and held various positions in the organisation.”
When asked about joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he said that there were no talks with any party so far. If he gets any opportunity where he thinks that he can work with freedom of expression, he will consider it. (ANI)
