Anekal (Karnataka) [India], July 23 (ANI): More than 20 people were seriously injured in a gas cylinder explosion at a paying guest accommodation in Bommasandra, Anekal taluk, early Thursday morning, police said.
According to Anekal Police, the incident occurred around 6:00 AM at a PG belonging to Nagaraj Reddy in Bommasandra, which had been leased out to others.
According to police, more than 20 migrant workers from other states were living in the PG. Most of them were labourers from North India. In each room, eight people had been accommodated, and the entire building allegedly had no safety arrangements. All the injured are said to be from West Bengal and Bihar.
Following the blast, the seriously injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The injured have been identified as Saurav Choudhary, Alavuddin, Shantanuray, Ahibul Rehman, Subrata Behera, and Debashish Haldar, police said.
Fire and emergency services personnel rushed to the spot and doused the fire. A case has been registered at Hebbagodi Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
Police said they are probing whether the PG was operating without proper permissions and safety norms.
