Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], September 8 (ANI): BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Tuesday welcomed the Nampally court’s decision to reject police remand of party MLCs Thatha Madhu and Naveen Reddy in connection with alleged remarks against Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, saying “justice has prevailed”.
Speaking to reporters, KTR said the state legislature should also avoid taking any “hasty” action against the two MLCs and learn from the judiciary’s decision.
“Justice has prevailed. We hope the State Legislature also will not do anything hasty and will actually learn from what the judiciary has said. The judiciary has rejected the remand, and we are hopeful that even the Legislature will not do anything hasty. Hopefully, justice will prevail even in the Legislature,” KTR said.
The Nampally court rejected the police remand of the two BRS MLCs after Saifabad police arrested them and produced them before the court in connection with the alleged remarks against the Assembly Speaker.
Reacting to the court order, BRS MLC Thatha Madhusudhan Reddy said, “At the end of the day, truth will prevail. The court also reiterated the same. The Revanth Reddy-led government has been trying to send us to jail since yesterday. However, the court today saw truth and justice in our arguments.”
He thanked BRS leaders, including KCR, KTR and Harish Rao, and MP Ravichandra for their support, alleging that a false case was registered against him and Naveen Kumar.
“A false case was booked against Naveen Kumar and me. We were taken into custody in the early hours and were not even allowed to take a bath,” he alleged.
Madhusudhan Reddy also said the BRS would return to power and “Revanth Reddy will be taken to task”.
BRS MLC Naveen Kumar described the court order as a “victory of democracy” and alleged that the government had attempted to silence him and Madhusudhan.
“Today it is the victory of democracy. Revanth Reddy tried to silence me and MLC Madhusudhan, but truth has won. This verdict is a slap on the CM’s face,” Naveen Kumar said.
He alleged that the government had put pressure on police officials to seek their remand and thanked BRS leadership, including KCR, KTR, Harish Rao and MP Ravichandra, for their support.
Naveen Kumar said that as the Congress government completes its tenure, the BRS would question it in public, and also sought action against Congress MLA Shankar over his alleged remarks wishing for KCR’s death.
“I have immense respect for our Speaker, but I want to see what action will be taken against Congress MLA Shankar, who wished for KCR’s death,” he said.
Naveen Kumar said KCR was a two-time Chief Minister and played a key role in the movement for a separate Telangana, and questioned how Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy would respond to the remarks against the former Chief Minister. (ANI)
