
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], August 21 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Leader of Opposition and former chief minister Jairam Thakur on Friday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and discussed several important issues concerning the state, its current situation and development-related matters.
During the meeting, Thakur apprised the Prime Minister of the situation in Himachal Pradesh and held detailed discussions on issues related to the state’s development. He also sought Modi’s guidance on various matters concerning the state.
Thakur said that Prime Minister Modi has always had a special affection for Himachal Pradesh and that the Centre has continued to give priority to the state’s interests and development. He highlighted various projects and initiatives taken forward in Himachal Pradesh with the support of the central government.
According to Thakur, infrastructure development in areas such as roads, healthcare, education, railways and other sectors has received significant attention under the Modi government. He also said that lakhs of families in the state have benefited from various welfare schemes of the Centre.
Thakur thanked the Prime Minister for his continued support and guidance to Himachal Pradesh. He said Modi’s commitment towards the state’s development and his attachment to Himachal continued to be a source of inspiration.
The Leader of Opposition also stressed the need for greater coordination between the Centre and the state government, particularly given Himachal Pradesh’s geographical conditions and the development challenges arising from them.
He said the BJP, when it was in government in Himachal Pradesh, had worked to accelerate development with the support of the Centre. He added that the party continues to raise issues concerning the interests of the state before the central government even while being in opposition.
“Himachal Pradesh is an important partner in the country’s development journey,” Thakur said, adding that several ambitious projects have been taken forward in the state with the Centre’s support.
During his visit to the national capital, Thakur also met BJP leader and former national president and Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda. The two leaders held an interaction on various issues related to Himachal Pradesh.
Thakur also enquired about Nadda’s well-being during the meeting. He said Nadda’s contribution to Himachal Pradesh’s development and to strengthening the party organisation has been significant.
Thakur said Nadda’s experience and guidance remained an inspiration for party workers. He also reiterated that the BJP would continue to raise issues concerning the interests of Himachal Pradesh before the Centre and other appropriate forums.
He said the guidance of Prime Minister Modi and the central leadership gives new energy to the BJP in Himachal Pradesh. (ANI)
