Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh) [India], November 4 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday organised a massive public outreach march in Hamirpur under its campaign Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao (Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy), launching a strong political offensive against the Congress and the INDIA bloc.

Prior to the march, a parliamentary constituency-level workers’ conference was organised at Kumar Palace on Hamirpur Bypass. BJP Himachal Pradesh President Rajeev Bindal and Hamirpur MP and former Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur attended the conference and addressed party workers.

According to the release, a large number of BJP workers from Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Una, Dehra, Dharampur and other areas participated in the conference. Following the meeting, party leaders and workers took out a march from Kumar Palace to Gandhi Chowk, calling upon people to safeguard democratic institutions and oppose what they described as the Congress’s politics of disruption and confrontation.

Addressing the gathering, MP Anurag Singh Thakur launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of questioning democratic institutions and electoral processes whenever the Congress faces political setbacks. He said that instead of accepting electoral verdicts, the Congress leadership was attempting to create confusion and distrust among citizens.

Referring to elections held in Bihar and Kerala following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, Thakur questioned the Congress’s stand on EVMs and electoral outcomes. He asked whether the Kerala Chief Minister would also resign following an electoral verdict if the Congress’s allegations regarding EVM-based elections were to be accepted. He said the Congress must clarify whether its allegations were credible or whether the electoral mandates in states such as Karnataka and Kerala should be respected.

Thakur further highlighted the electoral setbacks suffered by the Congress’ student wing, pointing to its performance in student union elections at Punjab University and Delhi University. He said Rahul Gandhi was attempting to shift responsibility for the party’s organisational weaknesses and political failures onto the BJP rather than introspecting.

Taking a dig at the Congress-led rally in Delhi, Thakur said that despite claims of mobilising a crowd of around one million people, the actual turnout was reportedly far below the projected figure. He asserted that the electorate had repeatedly rejected the Congress’ politics and that raising doubts about constitutional institutions without credible grounds amounted to undermining public confidence in democratic processes. He urged BJP workers to expose what he termed the Congress’ misleading political narrative before the public.

BJP State President Dr Rajeev Bindal accused the Congress and the INDIA bloc of attempting to weaken the country by aligning themselves with forces hostile to India’s interests. He said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India was advancing rapidly across economic, strategic and technological sectors, while the Congress was indulging in politics that sought to undermine the country’s progress and institutional credibility.

Targeting the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led Himachal Pradesh government, Bindal alleged that the Congress government had betrayed the expectations of the people. He described its four-year tenure as being marked by anti-women policies, allegations of corruption and decisions that had adversely affected public interest. He said the people of Himachal Pradesh were increasingly questioning the government’s performance and seeking accountability for its electoral promises.

Responding to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s remarks about the BJP being divided into five factions, Bindal said the Chief Minister should focus on the internal condition of his own party instead of commenting on the BJP. In a pointed political response, he said the Chief Minister should introspect and assess the realities within the Congress before making claims about the opposition.

Expressing confidence in the BJP’s electoral prospects, Bindal asserted that if Assembly elections were held in Himachal Pradesh today, the BJP would win all 68 seats, reflecting what he described as growing public dissatisfaction with the Congress government. (ANI)
