Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], August 13 (ANI): Nationalist Citizen Party of India (NCPI) MP Saayoni Ghosh on Thursday criticised the Opposition for disruptions during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, saying the time of the House is precious for raising issues and such conduct affects the dignity of Parliament and the country.
Speaking to reporters, Ghosh said Union Home Minister Amit Shah was ready to respond to questions raised by the Opposition, but alleged that the Opposition was unwilling to hear his responses.
“The time of the session is very precious for raising issues. The Opposition had created many troubles. This is not a good thing for the dignity of the country and the House. Home Minister was ready to give his response. The Home Minister never shies away from questions, but the Opposition certainly shies away from his responses,” she said.
Her remarks came as the Monsoon Session of Parliament was adjourned sine die on Thursday after 19 sittings spread over 25 days.
During the session, 12 Bills were passed, while only one, the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, was debated in the House, according to the details cited.
The Opposition repeatedly sought a statement from Home Minister Amit Shah over allegations of force being used against protesting students, including claims of lathi-charge and excessive use of force.
Other issues, including allegations of theft of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the NEET matter, also remained points of contention during the session.
The session witnessed repeated slogan-shouting, protests inside the House and demonstrations outside the Parliament complex, with the BJP and INDIA bloc staging counter-protests.
On Wednesday, Shah said the government was ready for a discussion on the issue and accused the Opposition of avoiding debate.
Both Houses were adjourned sine die on Thursday. (ANI)
