Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], July 1 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched the statewide ‘Namo Swachhta Abhiyan’ and ‘Amrutpan Abhiyan’ from Gandhinagar and urged citizens to make cleanliness a shared commitment and a natural habit in everyday life.
According to an official release from Gujarat Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), he added that cleanliness should not be a week-long activity but a lifelong habit.
CM stated that “Being healthy is the foremost happiness” and “Prevention is Better Than Cure” should become a part of everyday life. Emphasising that cleanliness and good health are closely interconnected, he urged citizens not to litter and to work together to keep public places clean.
He further stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched several initiatives, including Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Har Ghar Jal, Ujjwala Yojana, and Ayushman Bharat, to improve people’s health, promote cleanliness, and enhance their well-being. CM added that the government is committed to ensuring quality healthcare services reach every citizen in the society.
CM said that under the ‘Namo Swachhta Abhiyan’, a seven-day cleanliness drive will be conducted in hospitals and healthcare institutions across the state from July 1 to 7. During the campaign, old furniture, obsolete medical equipment, and unnecessary records will be removed to create a clean and hygienic environment in healthcare facilities. He added that the initiative should not remain limited to a week-long campaign but should develop into a culture of daily cleanliness.
CM said that the ‘Amrutpan Abhiyan’ is crucial for safeguarding the health of mothers and children. He stressed the need to raise widespread awareness to ensure that every child receives proper nutrition and care from birth. He added that healthy children are the foundation of a healthy society and a developed nation.
CM further said that good health is more precious than material comforts. He noted that illness reminds people of the true value of good health. Calling the Ayushman Card a boon for poor families, he added that Gujarat has significantly expanded healthcare facilities, including in rural areas.
As per a release, he said that healthcare is not just a profession but a noble service to humanity. He added that there is no greater reward than the blessings of poor and needy patients.
CM stressed the importance of infection control to reduce hospital-acquired infections. He urged healthcare workers and citizens to collectively contribute to building a clean, healthy, and Viksit Gujarat.
On the occasion of National Doctors’ Day, CM extended his greetings to all doctors across the state and lauded their invaluable contribution to the healthcare sector.
Extending his greetings to all doctors on the occasion of National Doctors’ Day, state’s Health Minister Praful Pansheriya said that, under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the State Health Department has launched the statewide ‘Namo Swachhta Abhiyan’. He said that the campaign is not limited to a single day or a week but is aimed at making cleanliness an integral part of the daily functioning of hospitals.
The Minister further said that, under the campaign, broken chairs, obsolete computers, old vehicles, and condemned ambulances lying unused in hospital premises for years will be removed within seven days. The space created will be used to improve patient facilities. He added that repair work, including fixing broken tiles, doors, windows, lights, fans, and leaking taps in toilets, will be undertaken on a priority basis in all Civil Hospitals, as well as PHCs and CHCs across the state.
As part of the celebrations marking 12 years of the successful leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this cleanliness campaign is being organised as a fitting tribute to him. Health Minister Praful Pansheriya expressed confidence that, guided by the mantra “Clean Mind, Clean Body, Clean Healthcare Institution,” Gujarat’s Health Department will continue to set new benchmarks and maintain its leading position in the country.
During the statewide mega campaign, an intensive cleanliness drive will be conducted across all 11,935 government healthcare institutions in the state, ensuring cleanliness in every area from the premises to the terraces.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, Rajeev Topno, followed by a vote of thanks proposed by Urban Health Commissioner Dr Sandhya Bhullar.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Health Minister Praful Pansheriya, and other dignitaries released the ‘Amrutpan Abhiyan Guidelines’ and the ‘Flip Chart’.
To promote cleanliness and better management in government healthcare institutions across the state, the Health and Family Welfare Department launched the statewide ‘Namo Swachhta Abhiyan’ at the Gandhinagar Civil Campus. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Health Minister Praful Pansheriya launched the campaign by participating in a cleanliness drive.
The event was attended by Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Mira Patel, District Panchayat President Rajeshkumar Patel, Rural Health Commissioner Ratankanvar Gadhavicharan, Collector Ravindra Khatale, District Development Officer Hasrat Jasmine, senior officials of the Health Department, and students of GMERS Medical College, a release added.
