New Delhi [India], October 16 (ANI): BJP MP Manoj Tiwari on Thursday appealed to people to support Ramleela celebrations, saying they play an important role in preserving India’s cultural heritage and promoting the values associated with Lord Ram.
While attending a Ramleela event organised near Kamal Cinema in Safdarjung Enclave, Tiwari told reporters, ”We are a tiny drop in the vast ocean. It is the ‘Ramlilas’ that have shaped this nation into a land rooted in the culture of Lord Ram; I believe it is the duty of every Indian to support them.”
He further added that “There are many ways to offer your support: you could be a spectator, an actor, or a donor. You could even be a director. This is a far more meaningful form of reporting, for once the ‘Ramattva’ (spirit of Lord Ram) takes root within people, the Ravana will be vanquished of his own accord.”
“I appeal to everyone to extend their support,” he said.
BJP MLA and singer Maithili Thakur also attended the event and urged people, particularly the youth, to remain connected with their cultural and religious roots.
Speaking to reporters at the event, Thakur said, “It is a great blessing to have been born in a country where the stories of Lord Ram are cherished, a place where children are raised with the teachings of Ram. Standing here today, witnessing such a beautiful performance of the Ramleela alongside such accomplished artists… I am receiving the blessings and immense support of respected figures like Manoj Tiwari and Satish Upadhyay. I would just like to say to everyone, especially our youth, to stay connected to your roots. When such religious and cultural programs take place around you, do participate in them with great enthusiasm.”
Meanwhile, BJP MLA Satish Upadhyay said the Shri Ram Dharmik Ramleela Samiti had been organising the event for the past 36 years, adding that it continued to attract a large audience.
Speaking to ANI, Upadhyay said several prominent guests had visited the event, including singer and Bihar MLA Maithili Thakur. He added that Tiwari was also scheduled to attend.
He said the Ramleela aimed to connect young people with India’s cultural and religious heritage.
“The youth of the country are connected to their Sanatan roots and culture, and they want to connect with the roots of their history, with their Sanatan heritage. The purpose of this Ramleela is that this is India’s true identity,” Upadhyay said.
Emphasising the cultural significance of Lord Ram, he said, “Lord Rama is deeply embedded in every fibre of India—Lord Rama is in the mind, in the body, and in every single pore.”
Upadhyay added that the initiative aimed to ensure that young people in his Assembly constituency and across Delhi remained connected with Sanatan culture and their religious beliefs. (ANI)
