Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], October 29 (ANI): Congress leader Induja Balmoori has filed a complaint with the Hyderabad City Police Commissioner against Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao and social media handles allegedly backed by him, accusing them of circulating morphed photographs and targeting her over her marriage.

Induja, State General Secretary of the Indian Youth Congress and wife of Congress MLC and Government Whip Venkat Balmoor, alleged that photographs taken with her husband were being circulated on social media with misleading claims and by misrepresenting her identity.

Speaking to ANI, Induja alleged that she and her husband had been subjected to online trolling and humiliation following their marriage six months ago. She claimed that the controversy was linked to the caste difference between the two.

“Today we’ve been backlashed and humiliated by a lot of social media trolls because we got married six months ago,” she said.

Induja alleged that KTR had an issue with their marriage and accused him of caste-based prejudice.

“The point is KTR has a very big issue with our wedding. Because he doesn’t like SC, he doesn’t like any Dalit,” she alleged, adding that she believed the BRS leader favoured the Velama community.

She further alleged that photographs from their pre-wedding shoot in Goa had been misrepresented on social media to suggest that her husband was involved with another woman.

“At the same time, photos were morphed as if he was kissing someone else, mentioning that he had multiple affairs, but in that picture I was the person who was with him, and we both had a pre-wedding shoot in Goa,” she said.

She alleged that old photographs and personal matters were being brought into the public domain to humiliate the couple.

Describing the impact of the online posts, she said that getting married should be a happy occasion, but she had instead faced humiliation because of the caste difference between her and her husband.

Induja also urged young people facing similar situations to speak up, alleging that personal photographs were being used to intimidate and embarrass individuals on social media.

“I feel every Gen Z girl or boy who is facing this problem should be aware of this because I was the first one to come out like this,” she said. (ANI)
