New Delhi [India], October 12 (ANI): Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of creating fake and duplicate votes, alleging that the Election Commission must remain impartial amid the ongoing controversy over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Reacting to the protest in Delhi against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Yadav said, “A protest is underway in Delhi against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, and the BJP is opposing it. The BJP has stated that those staging the protest want to plunge the country into the fire of anarchy.”
Yadav alleged that the BJP was still creating fake votes and questioned the impartiality of the Election Commission. He said the SIR process in Uttar Pradesh had concluded, but a new type of revision was beginning while a large number of duplicate votes remained.
“The BJP gets votes registered for whomever it chooses. If you are a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Election Commission will get your vote registered,” Yadav alleged.
He further claimed that BJP membership was being linked to the recognition of a person’s citizenship, alleging that those outside the party were not being treated in the same way.
Yadav also alleged that the BJP was creating multiple fraudulent votes against a single genuine vote, claiming that the party was aware of the alleged irregularities.
As the INDIA Bloc hits the streets in Delhi and launches a massive protest march, TMC MP Mahua Moitra said, “We are going to march towards the seat of justice, to get justice for all Indians.”
Earlier, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday launched a sharp attack against the ruling BJP, alleging widespread electoral fraud across Uttar Pradesh. Citing deep irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, Yadav claimed that the integrity of the voter list has been severely compromised.
“There are lakhs of fake votes in Uttar Pradesh. A single person has as many as ten votes registered. We have identified such fake votes in several assembly constituencies… we will release the list. This implies there are irregularities in the SIR. Crores of rupees were spent on the SIR, and time was wasted… we will not let the BJP get away with this fraud across the 403 seats,” Yadav told reporters. (ANI)
