Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], July 1 (ANI): Ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit, Odisha Minister Suresh Pujari on Wednesday stated that the state had been eagerly awaiting Shah’s arrival to kickstart several infrastructure and energy initiatives.
Speaking to ANI about the high-profile visit, Pujari said, “We had been waiting for Amit Shah for quite some time and had also invited him. He will visit Jharsuguda on July 3. An ethanol plant has been set up in Bargarh; it will utilise the crop residue that used to go to waste in the area. This will benefit both the nation and the state in the energy sector.”
Amit Shah is scheduled to embark on a visit to Odisha starting on July 3, during which he will inaugurate several development projects, including a major ethanol plant in Bargarh.
Following his engagements in Bargarh, the Union Home Minister will proceed to Sambalpur for the second leg of his visit.
“From Bargarh, he will travel to Sambalpur on the 4th, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several projects,” Shah added.
Apart from the visit, Pujari also commented on the completion of ten years of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime, hailing it as a transformative move for the Indian economy.
“It has been 10 years (since the implementation of GST). There should be no policy paralysis in the government. The 10-year journey of GST has benefited both the country and the state. India has gained immensely from this decision; it ensures transparency, and the state’s revenue has also increased significantly,” he asserted.
As India marks nine years since the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), data released from Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s office highlights the system’s digital transformation, showing that the GST framework now has 1.65 crore registered taxpayers.
“GST reforms have strengthened India’s growth journey through a simpler, more transparent and citizen-centric indirect tax system, easing the burden on essential sectors while enhancing the ease of living and ease of doing business,” the Nirmala Sitharaman Office on X stated. (ANI)
