Los Angeles [US], September 25 (ANI): Actor Margot Robbie has seemingly changed her surname to Ackerley, with new business documents for LuckyChap Entertainment, the production company she runs with her husband Tom Ackerley, listing her as “Margot Elise Ackerley,” according to People.
The name change was confirmed by UK authorities on Wednesday, September 23, according to the Companies House records. In previous documentation, the actor was listed as “Margot Elise Robbie”.
The change comes ahead of Robbie and Ackerley’s 10th wedding anniversary in December.
Robbie, 36, had been the subject of speculation about whether she had adopted her husband’s surname in her private life. As early as 2018, The Daily Telegraph reported that her name had appeared as “Margot Ackerley” on a seating plan at a friend’s wedding.
Despite the apparent change in her legal or business records, Robbie is expected to continue using “Margot Robbie” professionally. She was credited as Margot Robbie in ‘Sterling Point’, the coming-of-age drama she co-produced through LuckyChap Entertainment, which premiered on August 5.
Ackerley, 36, also serves as an executive producer on the Amazon Prime Video series through the company, marking the latest professional collaboration between the couple.
Robbie and Ackerley first met while working on the 2013 World War II drama ‘Suite Française’, where Ackerley worked as an assistant director and Robbie played Céline Joseph.
The couple began dating and founded LuckyChap Entertainment together a year later. The company has since produced several films and television series, including ‘Barbie’, ‘I, Tonya’ and ‘Birds of Prey’, with several projects featuring Robbie, according to People.
Speaking about their intertwined professional and personal lives, Ackerley previously said in an interview, “[We spend] 24 hours a day [together]. It’s seamless. We don’t have a toggle on, toggle off. It’s all become one thing.”
The couple married in a private ceremony in Byron Bay, Australia, in December 2016. Robbie confirmed their marriage in an Instagram post shortly afterwards, sharing a photograph in which she showed off a ring on her finger.
Although the couple has largely kept their married life private, Robbie told Porter in 2018 that being married was “actually the most fun ever” and said they made an effort to spend time together despite their busy schedules, according to People.
“Even if we both have to fly to a country in between where we both are for one night, we’ll do it and then fly back to work the next day,” she said. “And we speak all day, every day on the phone.”
Robbie and Ackerley also share a son, who was born on October 17, 2024. A source close to the couple previously told People during Robbie’s pregnancy, “Family means a lot to both of them and they knew early on in their relationship being parents was something they really wanted.” (ANI)
