Singapore City [Singapore], August 21 (ANI): Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted India’s growing role in the global economy, driven by continued economic growth, investment-led reforms and deeper integration with global markets, while addressing the ICAI International Conference 2026 in Singapore.

Goyal, who is part of the Indian ministerial delegation visiting Singapore, spoke about the changing role and responsibilities of Chartered Accountants as India becomes increasingly integrated with the global economy.

The Minister also highlighted India’s commitment to deepening economic engagement and building partnerships that contribute to shared growth and prosperity.

In a social media post, he stated, “Delivered a keynote address at the ICAI International Conference 2026 in Singapore. Highlighted India’s evolving role in the global growth landscape, driven by continued economic growth, investment-led reforms and deeper integration with global markets. Spoke about the opportunities & responsibilities for Chartered Accountants as India becomes increasingly integrated with the global economy”.

The ICAI International Conference 2026 was one of Goyal’s engagements during his visit to Singapore for the fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) and the fourth India-Singapore Business Roundtable (ISBR).

The ministerial and business-level engagements are aimed at strengthening bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation between India and Singapore.

Goyal also held discussions with representatives of leading family-owned businesses in Singapore. The interaction provided an opportunity for the Minister to highlight India’s growth trajectory, investment opportunities and the policy environment aimed at attracting long-term capital.

During the interaction, Goyal invited greater participation from global investors and family-owned businesses in India’s growth journey.

In another engagement, Goyal met Ritu Mehlawat, Head of Investments, India, at ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC). The meeting focused on investment avenues and collaboration opportunities as India emerges as a preferred destination for data centres.

The engagements come as India and Singapore continue to work towards strengthening their economic relationship through the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The Indian delegation to Singapore is being led by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and includes Goyal, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State for Commerce and Industry and Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada.

Around 70 senior Indian business leaders from a wide range of sectors accompanied the delegation. These included representatives from technology, software and artificial intelligence, manufacturing and engineering, infrastructure and sustainability, financial services and fintech, healthcare and life sciences, food and agriculture, logistics, maritime and trade, and professional services.

The fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable, held on August 20, reviewed progress since the third roundtable held in New Delhi in August 2025 and explored new avenues to accelerate the implementation of the India-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Roadmap.

The ISMR serves as the apex ministerial mechanism for advancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Singapore.

The visit therefore brought together government-level discussions, business engagement and professional interactions, with the broader objective of strengthening India’s economic engagement with Singapore and encouraging greater participation by global investors in India’s growth story. (ANI)
