Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 30 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that the brightly lit markets and bustling commercial establishments at night reflect the growing confidence of traders and the improved security environment in the state since 2017.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister highlighted the transformation in the state’s business environment, stating that the growing activity in markets after sunset symbolises traders’ confidence and women’s increasing participation in the workforce.

“Today, in the new Uttar Pradesh, the lights of bustling markets and commercial establishments at night are not merely the glow of trade, but the radiance of the traders’ confidence. The self-assurance of our maternal strength—fearlessly fulfilling their duties at their workplaces during night shifts—is not just a personal achievement, but a symbol of the progress of the entire society,” he said.

The Chief Minister questioned the approach of the previous government, noting that prior to 2017, crime and a sense of insecurity caused business activities to become restricted as soon as the sun set.

The Chief Minister wrote that in the ‘new’ Uttar Pradesh, the light emanating from markets and commercial establishments at night represents not just business activity, but the confidence of the traders themselves. The self-confidence of women, who carry out their professional responsibilities fearlessly during night shifts, is not merely an individual achievement; it is a symbol of progress for society as a whole.

The Chief Minister pointed out that this environment of security and trust did not always exist in Uttar Pradesh. Before 2017, crime and insecurity meant that business activities would begin to decline after sunset. Families remained deeply concerned about the safety of women who worked late into the night.

The Chief Minister stated that under the visionary guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ‘double-engine’ government has transformed this situation. A policy of ‘zero tolerance’ toward crime and criminals has strengthened law and order and prioritised the safety of women.

“Today, markets remain open even at night. Traders are finding new opportunities to expand their businesses, and our daughters are forging ahead—driven by their talent and hard work—within a secure environment,” he wrote.

The Chief Minister noted that in 2017, the female labour force participation rate in the state stood at approximately 13 per cent; it has now risen to 36 per cent. This serves as a powerful testament to the growing self-confidence, economic capability, and self-reliance of our women.

“It is the hallmark of a ‘New Uttar Pradesh’ that is moving forward—from ‘security’ toward ‘prosperity'” he added. (ANI)
