New Delhi [India], September 29 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday announced its candidates for the 2026 Legislative Council (Vidhan Parishad) graduate and teacher constituency elections in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
For Bihar, the party has named Naval Kishore Yadav from Patna Teachers constituency, N.K. Yadav from Kosi Graduates, Sarvesh Kumar from Darbhanga Graduates, and Narendra Prasad Singh from Tirhut Teachers constituency.
In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP has fielded Kedar Nath Singh from Varanasi Graduates, Dinesh Goel from Meerut Graduates, Ashok Kumar Rathore from Allahabad-Jhansi Graduates and Pramod Mishra from Varanasi Teachers constituency.
The list was issued by Tarun Chugh, BJP Rajya Sabha MP and National Headquarters In-charge.
The party has also announced candidates for the Agra Teachers and Gorakhpur-Faizabad Teachers constituencies in Uttar Pradesh.
Hari Kishore Tiwari has been named the BJP candidate from the Agra Teachers constituency, while Dhruv Tripathi will contest from the Gorakhpur-Faizabad Teachers constituency.
The nomination process for the Legislative Council (MLC) elections began at the Lucknow Divisional Commissioner’s office on Tuesday, with security arrangements tightened around the venue.
Lucknow District Magistrate and police officials inspected the security arrangements at the nomination venue and reviewed the measures put in place for the process.
Security has been stepped up in the vicinity of the venue, with increased surveillance and deployment of police personnel.
The district administration and police remained on high alert to ensure the smooth conduct of the nomination process.
The nomination process is being conducted at the Lucknow Divisional Commissioner’s office, where candidates are submitting their papers for the MLC elections.
DCP (Deputy Commissioner of police) (West) Jitendra Kumar Srivastava said security arrangements had been made in view of the nomination process, with personnel deployed at the main gate, the returning officer’s chamber, perimeter areas, and for traffic management.
“The nomination process for the Graduate and Teacher MLC constituencies has begun at the Divisional Commissioner’s office. In view of this nomination process, police force arrangements have been made. Personnel have been deployed at the main gate, the returning officer’s chamber, the perimeter areas, and for traffic management,” Srivastava said.
He said female police personnel and traffic police had also been deployed to ensure that the process proceeded smoothly and without disruption.
