Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], August 26 (ANI): The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Wednesday alleged corruption in the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) and demanded an immediate inquiry, citing remarks by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Malvinder Singh Kang.
Ahead of the 2027 State assembly election, targeting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Punjab government, SAD termed Kang’s remarks as the “biggest admission of guilt” from an AAP leader and claimed that the MP had acknowledged the issues raised by the opposition party.
In a post on X, SAD wrote, “Biggest admission of guilt – from AAP’s own MP! @AAPPunjab, listen to your own MP Malvinder Singh Kang; he is saying exactly what we have been saying since so long – that GMADA is a den of corruption!”

Slamming AAP national convenor Arvind kejriwal, SAD alleged that an “outsider” was influencing contracts, deals and transactions within the system and claimed that these activities were being carried out to fund his own “Sheesh Mahals”.
“And we all know which ‘outsider’ is influencing contracts, deals and transactions within the system to fund his own ‘Sheesh Mahals!'” the party said.
Targeting Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, SAD questioned whether the government would initiate an inquiry into the allegations. “Guru Dokhi Bhagwant Mann- will you now initiate an inquiry or wait till your own leaders do ‘Gherao’ and embarrass you further,” SAD said in its post.
Meanwhile, amid speculation over an alliance with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), BJP Punjab In-Charge Satish Poonia on Wednesday said that the BJP will contest all 117 seats in the Punjab Assembly elections to win, asserting that the party is fully committed to its strengths and policies while identifying the drug menace as a major challenge for the state.
Speaking to ANI, Poonia said, “The aim will be to win… The BJP is fully committed to its own strengths and policies; we will certainly contest 117 seats, and we will do so with the sole intention of winning. The drug menace is a significant challenge for Punjab–a state that was once the pride of the nation. It was renowned across the country and the world for its youth, athletes, traditions, peace, prosperity, and greenery.”
The BJP and SAD were previously alliance partners in Punjab, but the two parties parted ways in 2020 amid differences over the farm laws. (ANI)
