
Narmadapuram (Madhya Pradesh) [India], August 24 (ANI): Police have arrested three men in connection with the alleged gang rape of a minor girl at the hill station of Pachmarhi in Narmadapuram district. The arrests were made within six hours of the victim lodging a complaint on August 23.
According to authorities, the crime took place on August 19, when the minor victim was returning home from college accompanied by a friend.
An acquaintance of the friend arrived at the scene alongside two other men. The trio forcibly took the minor and her friend to an isolated location.
The three men threatened the victims and proceeded to sexually assault the minor. Following the incident, the victim stopped attending her college classes. Noticing her absence and distress, her elder sister questioned her, prompting the victim to disclose the assault.
The victim and her family approached the Pachmarhi police station on August 23 to file a formal complaint.
“Acting on the complaint, different police teams were activated and all three accused were arrested within six hours,” stated Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abhishek Rajan. “All the accused have also confessed to the crime.”
The police have registered a case against all three individuals under strict provisions of the law, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) under Section 70(2): Gang rape of a woman under the age of eighteen; Section 115(2): Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt; Section 351(3): Criminal intimidation; Section 3(5): Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
