Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 22 (ANI): Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh on Saturday highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence in defence planning, saying the force is leveraging predictive AI and digital twin technology to forecast future scenarios and improve decision-making.
He stressed the importance of sharing data, learning from mistakes, and using collective experience to avoid repeating past errors.
Speaking at an event in Kanpur, the IAF chief said that the availability of vast amounts of data has enabled the use of predictive AI, which can help forecast future developments and assist in better planning.
“We have information available to us now; we are talking about predictive AI–forecasting what is likely to happen next. We are creating ‘digital twins’ to understand future possibilities,” Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh said.
He said that digital twins can provide a better understanding of potential situations by creating virtual models, allowing organisations to analyse possible outcomes and prepare accordingly.
Highlighting the significance of data sharing, the IAF chief said that information available with different stakeholders should be effectively utilised to improve learning and avoid repeating past mistakes.
“By leveraging the data we can easily share with one another, we should learn from any mistake–regardless of who made it–and avoid repeating it ourselves,” he added.
Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh emphasised that modern warfare is increasingly influenced by technology, and armed forces need to continuously adopt new-age tools to remain prepared for future challenges.
He said that collaboration, innovation and the ability to learn from experiences are essential for building stronger defence capabilities.
The IAF has been working towards integrating emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and data-driven systems to improve operational effectiveness, surveillance, training and decision-making processes.
The Air Chief Marshal said that technological advancements should be used not only to strengthen military capabilities but also to develop a deeper understanding of future possibilities and challenges.
He further highlighted that sharing knowledge and learning from collective experiences would help create more robust systems and enhance overall preparedness.
The Indian Air Force continues to focus on modernisation and adopting indigenous technologies to meet evolving security requirements and strengthen its operational readiness. (ANI)
