New Delhi [India], August 21 (ANI): Abeer and Rohan Pandit, sons of popular music composer Lalit Pandit of the Jatin-Lalit duo, expressed their wish to continue the legacy of their father and popular music composer Lalit Pandit of the Jatin-Lalit music duo by creating their independent songs and unique music compositions after they debuted in Bollywood this year.

While talking to ANI, Abeer and Rohansh Pandit reflected on the legacy of their father, Lalit Pandit, and said that they carry a responsibility to add a next chapter to the glorious reputation of their father by carving their own unique path. The duo became one of the youngest music composers of India after they debuted with YRF’s Alpha this year.

Rohansh Pandit said, “It’s (Hailing from the music family) definitely an advantage because we grew up around music and had the opportunity to learn from people who have been doing this for a very long time. But with that also comes a responsibility. We are conscious of the legacy, and I want to respect it. At the same time, we don’t want to spend our careers trying to recreate what our dad did with his music. I think their music belongs to them.”

Rohansh believes that the best way to honour the legacy of his father is by finding his unique standing in the music industry and becoming successful.

“Nobody can touch the sort of work that they’ve done. We would want to be true to our path and find our own voice and take our musicality forward with our best foot forward. I think the best way we can honour the legacy that dad has created is to find our own voice and add to that page with the music we make and the work that we do. So we’re obviously conscious of the legacy that we’re carrying. But I think it’s time to add to it and make our dad proud with what we do ahead,” added Rohansh Pandit.

Abeer Pandit believes that hailing from a music family is an “advantage” for him, as it helps in gaining access to “a certain kind of knowledge and exposure” from a young age.

“I think it’s definitely an incredible advantage to grow up in a musical family because you do have early access to a certain kind of knowledge and exposure from a very young age. We’ve learned so much just by being around Dad and listening to him talk about music and making music. It’s just been osmosis learning just about music itself.”

This also invites responsibility to take the legacy forward, Abeer feels.

“At the same time, there is a sense of responsibility because you know where you come from and the kind of work that has happened through the legacy of Jatin Lalit. But we don’t take it as pressure. We honestly take it as Rohansh said, we don’t want to recreate the legacy. We want to add our chapter and add our own method to it. So when one day when people hear and recognise it, that’ll be the greatest way of honouring them, right? That we’ve added something to the legacy,” said Abeer Pandit.

Alpha’s album features several songs like ‘Massacre’, ‘Champagne’, ‘Haaniya’, ‘Agni’, ‘Vaar Vaar’, ‘Shadows’ and ‘Rola Paen De’. Rohansh Pandit and Abeer Pandit also composed the themes heard during several key scenes in the film, including Hrithik Roshan’s sequence. (ANI)
