Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], August 4 (ANI): A large number of police personnel were deployed outside the residence of Tamil Nadu Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin in Neelankarai on Tuesday following a protest call by the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
Additional Commissioner of Police Narendran Nair IPS confirmed to ANI that an FIR has been filed against Udhayanidhi Stalin over his alleged derogatory remarks against CM Vijay.
The deployment comes after the women’s wing of TVK lodged a complaint at the Thanjavur police station, alleging that Udhayanidhi made a double-entendre remark about actor Trisha Krishnan during a DMK protest held in Thanjavur.
The women’s wing of the party sought action against Udhayanidhi over the alleged remarks.
TVK has also announced statewide protests today alleging that Udhayanidhi in his speech, had made an inappropriate innuendo about the actor.
Following the police complaint and the protest announcement, police were deployed in large numbers around Udhayanidhi’s residence as a precautionary measure.
Udayanidhi is facing backlash from TVK after slogans related to actor Trisha were raised at his rally while he was slamming Chief Minister Vijay over his handling of the Cauvery dispute with Karnataka.
Earlier, calling DMK’s conduct “absolutely disgusting”, TVK MLA Rhevanth Charan in a post on X said such acts expose the mindset and declining standards of the Arivalayam clan.
He wrote, “Passing such disgraceful comments against anyone is completely unacceptable. It exposes the mindset, political culture, and declining standards of the Arivalayam clan. Your announced protest collapsed even before it could begin. Now, desperate for attention, you have resorted to cheap provocation and engagement farming.” (ANI)
