Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], July 15 (ANI): Bhartiya Rashtra Samiti (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) said his political fight is solely against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s policies and governance, not against him personally.
Speaking informally with the media during his visit to New Delhi on Tuesday, KTR accused the Chief Minister of deliberately diverting public attention from the failures of the Congress government, a press note stated.
Taking a swipe at Revanth Reddy, KTR remarked that the Chief Minister seemed to have earned “four or five PhDs in diverting public attention.” Even after completing 31 months in office, he alleged, Revanth Reddy spends more time attacking BRS than addressing public issues.
“If BRS is a finished party, as the Chief Minister repeatedly claims, why does he attack us every single day?” he asked.
The press note said that KTR questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over what he described as the Chief Minister’s “irresponsible statements,” asking why the national leadership remained silent.
Referring to recent remarks by Revanth Reddy, KTR said no Chief Minister should ask for blood from farmers or glorify Hitler.
On the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, KTR alleged that the Congress government was intentionally denying irrigation water to farmers. He maintained that the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) is only an advisory body and that ownership and decision-making powers over the project rest entirely with the Telangana Government.
He accused the Chief Minister of using the NDSA as an excuse to avoid filling the reservoirs and alleged that water was being released downstream for political reasons rather than public interest. Calling the refusal to fill Kaleshwaram “a deliberate criminal act,” KTR demanded that the government immediately construct a cofferdam, switch on the Kannepalli pumps and provide irrigation water to farmers.
Expressing concern over the agrarian situation, KTR said farmers are shedding blood while the Congress government is refusing to provide water. Referring to a recent incident in Suryapet district, he said farmers were forced to spill their blood in protest because of the government’s negligence.
KTR alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had become nervous after four recent political surveys reportedly indicated growing public support for the BRS. He expressed confidence that BRS would return to power and K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) would once again become the Chief Minister. He also announced that he would undertake a statewide padayatra next year to directly interact with people and understand their concerns, the press note said.
Speaking on the TRS name, KTR said the party has a 22-year emotional association with it and reminded that TRS was the movement that achieved Telangana statehood and later formed the government. He questioned how anyone could expect Telangana society to accept another party claiming that identity.
KTR also attacked the State Government over alleged corruption in land administration, accusing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy of running a “30 per cent commission” system in land clearances. He further demanded that the Centre protect the 24% parliamentary representation of southern states during delimitation, warning that the South should not be penalised for successfully implementing population control, the press note said.
Expressing confidence in the party’s future, KTR said BRS would emerge stronger in the coming elections and that Telangana’s interests would remain the party’s foremost priority. (ANI)
