Hapur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 14 (ANI): Four members of a family, including children, were killed after their motorcycle crashed into a road divider on a flyover in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur on July 13.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police Vineet Bhatnagar, five people — a husband, his wife and their three children, all reportedly from Shahjahanpur — were riding the motorcycle when the accident occurred.
“A motorcycle accident occurred on the flyover at approximately 3:30 PM. There were 5 people riding the motorcycle–a husband, his wife, and their three children; they were reportedly residents of Shahajanpur. Prima facie, it appears the motorcycle was traveling in the lane adjacent to the divider. One girl died on the spot after the vehicle collided with the poles installed on the divider. Passersby immediately assisted the victims. Upon receiving the information, they were taken to a local hospital and subsequently admitted to the medical college for treatment. However, it was later learned that 3 more individuals had died,” ASP Bhatnagar told ANI.
Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the crash and are examining whether any other vehicle was involved.
“No specific details regarding the nature of the accident have come to light so far, but the police are conducting an investigation and gathering information. If any specific angle regarding the accident, or the involvement of another vehicle, comes to light, strict legal action will be taken against those responsible in accordance with the law,” he said.
