New Delhi [India], July 10: Mari State University (MarSU), one of Russia’s leading medical education institutions and a trusted academic partner to thousands of international students, held its Grand Convocation Ceremony on 9th July 2026 in collaboration with Rus Education and the Centre of International Education, celebrating the achievements of its graduating Class of 2026. The ceremony formally conferred degrees upon more than 200 Indian graduates.
The convocation marked a proud milestone for the University and its graduating students, many of whom will go on to serve healthcare systems in their home countries, including a substantial number of Indian students who chose Mari State University for its globally recognised MBBS programme.
Adding grandeur to the occasion, the proud moment was witnessed by a large gathering of parents of Indian students, who watched their children take a defining step forward in their dream of becoming doctors.
The graduates completed a rigorous curriculum aligned with international medical education standards, preparing them for licensure examinations, including India’s FMGE/NExT and equivalent assessments worldwide.

Adding to the significance of this year’s convocation, Rector Mikhail N. Shevtsov unveiled two major initiatives that reaffirm Mari State University’s long-term commitment to its international student community, particularly students from India.
The Rector announced that five students excelling in sports, particularly cricket, football, chess, and other disciplines, will be awarded scholarships at Mari State University. The initiative is designed to honour talented student-athletes while promoting holistic development alongside academic success.
The Rector also announced that Mari State University will host its inaugural Global Alumni Meet in 2027. The event will unite graduates from across the globe, offering them the opportunity to reconnect with their alma mater, strengthen professional networks, and celebrate the University’s expanding global alumni community. It is expected to be among the first large-scale international alumni gatherings organised by a Russian medical university.
These announcements reflect Mari State University’s continued commitment to enriching student life beyond the classroom, fostering lifelong relationships with its graduates, and strengthening its global academic community.
